32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) Report

The 32nd AGM of the Nepal Heart Foundation took place on the 12th and 13th of January 2024, showcasing a comprehensive agenda and active participation. On the first day, the event commenced with an interactive session led by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal, the Vice-President of NHF. Mr. Dilli Prakash Ghimire presented on "Branch Strengthening," and Dr. Urmila Shakya discussed the "Prevention of Child Heart Disease." A discussion session were held among the member of NHF in regards to those presentation.

The subsequent session, moderated by Mr. Bishnu Raj Nepal, Vice Secretary-General of NHF, allowed branches to present their annual achievements and activities within a concise three-minute timeframe. This provided a platform for each branch to share their accomplishments.

The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Balram Neupane, the President of NHF, featured a welcome speech by General Secretary Mr. Bal Govinda Bista, followed by heart-themed songs by Mr. Bijaya Manandhar. The inauguration of the formal AGM was done by lightening the Panas by Chief Guest, Dr. Mrigendra Raj Pandey. Following this a presentation by Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi was done on the topic "The future direction of Heart disease prevention activity by Nepal Heart Foundation". Speeches by special guests highlighted the day. The inauguration of the Mutu Bulletine was done by Chief Guest. Notable awards were presented during the prize distribution session, including the "Mrigendra Samjhana Medical Trust Oration Award" to Dr. Abanibhusan Upadhyaya and the "Late Dadodar Raj Sharma Heart Patient Service" award to Dr. Rabindra Bhakta Timala. Branch awards were also presented, with "Kavre Branch" receiving the Best Branch Award and Arghakhachi Branch receiving the Best Branch among the vallies outside of Kathmandu. The Mayor of Kankai Municipality was recognized for the publication of a bill on the ban of tobacco products. Chief Guest delivered few words to the NHF members. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Balkrishna Tuladhar, the NHF Lalitpur Branch chairman. The first day concluded with a speech by Mr. Balram Neupane.

The second day began with a rally around Lalitpur city, setting a vibrant tone for the day's proceedings. The Election Committee, chaired by Dr. Prachanda Pradhan, appointed the election officer, Mr. Prakash Koirala, and announced the initiating of the election procedure. An annual report was presented by the General Secretary, followed by the Financial Report by the Treasurer, both of which were discussed and approved by NHF members. Approval was granted for the appointment of an auditor and their remuneration for the fiscal year 2080/2081. The assembly nominated four individuals to authenticate the minutes of the General Assembly.

An appreciation certificate was awarded to the Lalitpur Branch for organizing the AGM, and tokens of love were exchanged among participating branches. Anemotional moment of silence was observed in memory of late NHF members during the year. The second day concluded with a concluding note by Mr. Balram Neupane.

The election proceedings were conducted smoothly, resulting in the election of Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal as the new President of NHF. Alongside him, 22 other members were elected, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Nepal Heart Foundation. The 32nd AGM proved to be a successful and engaging event, fostering collaboration and commitment toward the foundation's mission.
