Edward Lifesciences Foundation, India members visit to Nepal Heart Foundation, Central Office, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
A meeting of the Nepal Heart Foundation members and Edwards Lifesciences Foundation members was held at Nepal Heart Foundation, Central Office, Pulchowk, Lalitpur on March 10th, 2019 . Eleven members from Edwards Lifesciences namely, Mr. Manish Malu, Mr. Malcom Dsouza, Mr. Sudheer Mirajkar, Mr. Arnab Basumallik, Mr. Deval Joshi, Mr. Sandeep Ghaisas, Ms. Sunita Denies any suicidal or homicidal idea, plan or intent, Ms. Mamta Makkar, Mr. Anil Kataria, Mr. Dhruv Goyal and Mr. Harsh Mishra were present on the occasion.
Program was initiated by Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi at 10:30 am. President of Nepal Heart Foundation, Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal delivered words of welcome to the participants of the meeting. Self- introduction of participants was done before the start of the formal program.
Prof. Dr. Prachanda Pradhan presented an “Introduction of NHF and its activities”. Following the presentation, Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi’s presented on “Edwards Lifesciences Foundation Funded Activities 2017-18”. Mr. Manish Malu said he was delighted to be in NHF and expressed his feeling about the NHF’s utilizing Edwards Lifesciences Fund and thanked NHF for conducting the program successfully. Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal Presented a Token of love to Mr. Manish Malu. Students supported by Edwards Lifesciences Foundation were also introduced during the meeting at NHF. The Edward Team had opportunity to meet them. A vote of thanks speech was delivered by Dr. Urmila Shakya, a child pediatrician and executive board member of NHF. A group photograph was taken with participants of the meeting.A school visit of Edwards Lifesciences Foundation India members and NHF medical team was carried out at Prabhat Hither Secondary School at Tyagal, Lalitpur at 11 am. Medical team conducted screening of students . Active participation by Edwards Lifesciences Foundation members were done in screening activity. Screening, echocardiography and distribution of pamphlets and one-on-one counselling of the students were the major events which concluded at 1 pm. The event was followed by lunch to Edward group and medical team .

Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi initiated the program. Mr. Dilli Prakash Ghimire, Past President of NHFdeliveredwords of welcome to the participants of the meeting. Self- introduction of participantswas done before the start of the program.Rtn. Gabriele Mallapaty , President of Lalitpur Rotary Club informed about club activities and role played for joint activities in Rheumatic Heart Disease Prevention Program.Christine Fontana from Edwards Lifesciences introducedEdwards Lifesciences Foundation and purpose of their visit to Nepal. Prof. Dr. Prachanda Pradhan presented an“Introduction of NHF and its activities”.This was followed by Prof.
Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi’s presentation on “Edwards Lifesciences Foundation Funded Activities 2017-18”. Dr. Regmi briefly described activities undertaken, events conducted and achievement made during 2017-2018 project period. Mr. Manish Malu expressed his feeling about the NHF’s utilizing Edwards Lifesciences Fund and thanked NHF for conducting the program successfully. Token of love was presented to Ms. Christine Fontana, a member of Edwards Lifesciences Foundation by Past-president of Nepal Heart Foundation, Mr.Dilli Prakash Ghemere. Report on activities of the funding was handed by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal to the team leader. Students supported by Edwards LifesciencesFoundation were also present during the meeting at NHF. The Edward Team had opportunity to meet them and know from them how they got treatment of RHD and start of new life. Ms.Fontana got emotional during the narration of story of these people about their travelling from remote villages for treatment in Sahid Gangalal Hospital at Kathmandu.. Following this event, a vote of thankswas extended by Dr. Satya Narayan Suwal, vice-president of NHF. A group photograph was taken with participants of the meeting.
A school visit of Edwards Lifesciences Foundation members and NHF medical team was organized atShree ChandeeAdarshaSaral Secondary School at Chakupat, Lalitpur. Medical team conducted screening of students .Screeningprogram was observed by Edwards Lifesciences Foundation participants and they also actively helped on screening event. Screening, echocardiography and distribution of pamphlets, one-on-one counselling of the students and conduction of class on RHD to students by RHD educator were the major events which concluded at 2 pm. The event was followed by lunchto Edward group and medical team .
Meeting with Edwards Lifesciences Foundation volunteers was held on October 2nd, 2017 on NHF central office meeting Hall, Pulchowk, Lalitpur. Dignitaries present on the meeting were 18 volunteers from Edwards Lifesciences Foundation including Jordan Hopson, James Ritchie, Amrita Srinivasan, Thomas Oliver, Thomas S. Hopson, Gemma Moore, Manish Malu, Thomas Hopson, Solan Knight, Chris Moore, Uge Degenhazdt, Lucy Smallhorn, Ali Curms, Dominie Ritchie, Liz fassone, Loretta Moore, Luke Moore and Prem Pandit and members of Nepal Heart Foundation central office, Lalitpur Branch, Kathmandu Branch, Bhaktapur Branch along with Kavre Branch were present. Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi commenced the program and Mr. Dilli Prakash Ghimire delivered the welcome speech. Following this, a round of introduction of all the dignitaries were conducted. Prof. Dr. Prachanda Pradhan then presented a presentation on “Introduction of NHF” to acknowledge the participants about Nepal Heart Foundation. This was followed by Prof. Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi’s presentation on topic “NHF activities funded by Edwards Lifesciences Foundation”.
Dr. Regmi briefly described what have been conducted and achieved by the funds provided to NHF by Edwards Lifesciences Foundation. Then a brief time was given for active participation of the participants where they could make suggestions and comments. Gemma Moore and some other participants expressed their feeling about the NHF utilizing fund to help poor Nepalese people and thanked NHF for conducting the program successfully. Token of love was then provided to Edwards Lifesciences Foundation by president of Nepal Heart Foundation and Edwards Lifesciences Foundation gave a certificate to NHF stating to provide a fund to NHF to continue their partnership for following year as well. Mr. Balram Neupane thanked everybody with vote of thanks speech and the morning program was concluded with group photography followed by breakfast.
Evening session of meeting was held on Himalayan Hotel and was started with the presentation of Dr. Prakash Raj Regmi on topic of “RHD prevention and Control Program in Nepal”. A brief discussion period was given following the presentation to express ideas and suggestions of participants. Lot of participants clarified their queries regarding the program. The event was concluded with the dinner on the Himalayan Hotel.
